Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C
Lever on the mousetraps (obviously) using an off brand mousetrap that is crazy powerful. Made from the 3D printer so there's literally no error in the actual car itself. Back axel printed as well so it goes really straight. I believe it's... .122'' thick (something close to that). And a few other things that are trade secrets but I'll comment on this after state with them

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C
That could explain it, but it also means you clearly have a huge advantage over most of the people here because you have access to a 3D printer, and any school that has a 3D printer probably also has other expensive precision and/or computer guided tools. You're coming on here to brag about your 5 second time which you achieved by using tools that some of us on here could never even hope to use (in addition you treat us like we're stupid, telling us to look up what a 3D printer is if we don't know).mrsteven wrote:What I'll tell you is it was mostly made off of our schools 3D printer so it's light, thin and versatile.
That being said. Congratulations, assuming you achieved a 5 second time. I'm sure you put plenty of time and effort into it. I wish you luck at your state competition and assuming you medal, congratulations, it is rightfully yours.

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C
I'm not meaning to treat you like that, before this year I didn't know what it was myself.
So I'm very sorry, it wasn't my intention to brag, I was asking why people were needing to make their axels larger and it got to this, Im sorry.

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C
It was a misunderstanding, so that's that.
On a different note, are we allowed to try and squeeze an extra wind into the mousetrap spring? If so, has anyone been successful with it?

5 seconds is still really, good, but what I'm wondering about is how that only got you 5th at regionals? I would think a time like that could get top 3 at states easy. Also, winneratlife, are you willing to share what time you're getting (just want to see what the competition is like from Michigan)?

im not sure 1. how safe that would be. and 2. if that is qualified as a modification to the mousetrap.illusionist wrote:It was a misunderstanding, so that's that.

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C
Has anyone found any better/stronger mousetraps that the typical "victor" brand? Is anyone using another brand, and if so, is there a noticeable difference?

Sure; my time is 11. My distance used to be <2, until at regionals my wheel went bozo.
I believe 11 is the fastest time I've seen on the east side.
And I don't really care about sharing info because, well, we didn't make states.
