You can't say that resources did not have an effect on New Trier's success (I don't have much idea what actually goes on in Illinois, this is based on what is previously written.) However, I would say about 80% of Science Olympiad is based on how hard a team works. Last year our team was in one of the richest regions in the country and it's certain that many teams had more money than us. But we had a good coach and we worked hard and we still got 2nd at regionals and 3rd at state.
However, I know how frustrating it is when a team has more resources than you do and lllazar's comment wasn't completely out of line. I've had times like that. Sometimes it just feels good to say something like that. Though, satisfaction can still be had without posting it online.
Meh, it's come to the point where my satisfaction comes in doing well as an individual...
And again, i didn't mean to offend New Trier, it's just the truth. You have a bigger pool of kids to pick from and more resources. And honestly, the other members on my TEAM don't work nearly as hard as me or people on a team like New Trier's, and that's why you win and we don't. Hard work is truly the name of the game, but you have to work hard as a team. And the fact that New Trier manages to do that consistently each year is no small matter.
And AGAIN, i really didn't mean to offend anyone.

Austin (i hope that is your name

), my team is NOT hardworking. The majority of my team is made up of kids who have this kind of an outlook on sci oly:
A week before regionals/state: O crap, that competition is this weekend and i haven't studied or done any building!
Honestly, i just vent online sometimes because i feel like the people on this forum are more like me than any of the kids on my team.
And as a high schooler in Illinois, i can tell you this: New Trier practically dominates athletic and academic competitions. Along with Naperville Central, Stevenson, and as for the Academic part, IMSA....
