We also don't judge people here ... so you are welcome here!CurryMuncher wrote:So I'm a pretty big noob to all this but just for clarification in simple terms, we are building a box which is going to hold a hot thing. We need to make sure our box can hold in the maximum amount of heat possible and we are going to be judged based on the amount of heat we keep in? A basic example is cardboard box with cardboard box stuffed? Plz dont judge, im really bad with english

Pretty much, and don't forget the basic building regulations (found in the rules as well);CurryMuncher wrote:So I'm a pretty big noob to all this but just for clarification in simple terms, we are building a box which is going to hold a hot thing. Depending on which division you're in, your box (thermodynamic device) must fit within ( Div C ) a 15 by 15 by 15 cube, or a ( Div B ) 20 by 20 by 20 cube.
No asbestos (

There must be a hole 1.5 cm wide ( in diameter ) at the top of the box to stick a glass thermometer in ( and this hole may not be blocked throughout the test ).
Your beaker should be placed so that it is less than 12 cm from the top of the hole you made previously.
It may look like a lot, but most of it is just common sense and things to make sure that the event can run smoothly. Good Luck!
Ohayo!

You can download all of the current rules from the science olympiad home page--for free.

Can someone please state ALL of the possible tier's in thermo ?
What did the thermometer say to the graduated cylinder?

If I'm not mistaken, there are no tiers in the rules, only the penalty multipliers for part 1 scores.arv101 wrote:Can someone please state ALL of the possible tier's in thermo ?
