We finally got one that generates 1.9 volts on high power!

Grrr. At states, we had done fine on the low speed fan and the test portion (probably enough to medal), but on the high speed fan, we were able to move the windmill up and down on the pole and didnt fully tighten it afterwords and so the windmill turned 90 degrees when the fan started and we got less then half of what we wouldve gotten. Has this happed to anyone else, and if not, remember to tighten it!! :x

haha the same thing happened to me at regionals cuz we didn't tighten it up all the way but it didn't turn as much...

1.9 volts on high and we did it by making a cd fan.

how do you get 1.9 volts
our max was like 450 micro volts or something

It all depends on the fan. Some fans can get up to 2 or 3 volts and some can only get max 1 volt with a good windmill, so its hard to compare (for instance you could get 1 volt on one fan and 2.5 on another with the same windmill)

okay but what are some of the effective blade designs to capture all of those volts
we used a four bladed laminated paper design
which was the best one we had in total it only got 800mv

what is a good blade design for this
