It's 5.7 m/s, which amounts to 12.8mph

(8m/1.4s = 5.7m/s | 5.7m/s = 12.8mph)
Isn't it 8.2m?

It is. But for argument's sake, that 1278 mph was not feasible, 8.0 m or 8.2 m doesn't matter. :P

EDIT: I should read the rules

If I'm not mistaken the measurement is between the .2m line and the 8.2m line, which is 8m

Yeah, 8 meters of track are used for the timing, from the .2 meter line to the 8.2 meter line

I don't think this time is possible. Because if my math is right that is a speed of 1278mph.
Actually, once our car broke the sound barrier (1.6789 Mach!) we had to design an encasement for our egg that would protect it from cracking during the run. Can't get tiered, can we? :D

Are you disqualified if the egg touches the wall? And how is it to be graded if your egg touches the wall but then rolls backwards? All above scenarios are without the egg breaking.

Nope if they egg touches the wall you get a score of 0 for distance so that is fantastic. if it bounces off it is the final position

You get zero if it touches on the line drawn vertically upward from the centerline.

Quick question. Teams that do build and go along with a ramp as their launcher...are they tiered 3? Is a ramp a construction violation, or a competition violation? Someone please explain the difference. :P

A ramp would qualify as a construction violation.

The difference between construction and competition violations are that competition violations only occur during the run, meaning they are run-specific.
Once a construction violation has been declared the device cannot repeal that violation, you are stuck with it. If a device has a competition violation (aka run violation), they may correct their mistake during the 2nd run.

Is it wrong then that I've had ES's let me attempt to fix the device during the 10 minute run to bring it back into spec? It doesn't disallow it in the rules and in other events like maglev I believe that's considered the norm.
