Right, so since a larger diameter will give you more speed (there is very little to lose in terms of accuracy) large homemade wheels will be too heavy. If you find that smaller wheels work for you, then that's fine. I am just saying that speed is a lot more important at the state and national levels since most vehicles will be quite accurate and each second costs 2 points...

Jeez ophiophagus... I was typing but you best me with your edit...

yeah thats a good point, but my wheels arent heavy, they're lighter than CD's and at least for how my car is set up, i have a larger axel for more initial torque so in order for consistancy I made the wheels a bit smaller than a cd in the back and alot smaller in the front. its all in what you want to do, but with my car, in optimal conditions I can hit -25 points. so im happy with its performance ^.^

I very much doubt that.

You mean to tell me anything mousetrap powered can do 4m/s?

-25 points? Is this with one point per second , two points per second or four? If this is two points/sec that means you're getting exactly on both lines with a time of 2.5 seconds? If so, that's an amazing feat! May I ask how much your vehicle weighs?
EDIT: meh, winner beat me to it..

Im gunna say bull on this unless i see a video proving the time and weight. Because that just seems a little to iffy.

Video? No idk who would view it and it may help my competition. What I'll tell you is it was mostly made off of our schools 3D printer (if u don't know what it is look it up) so it's light, thin and versatile.
Me and my partner have made ALOT of these to finally get one that works this well.

It really doesnt matter to me if you believe me or not, the fact is it works

Such performance is literally IMPOSSIBLE with a regular propulsion design. I assume you are not using threaded axles either, because you claim such low weight, so, presumably, your propulsion method is the one with regular long levers on the mousetraps doubled up, or, at most, one for each direction, and such design can not get a 5 sec. score. Especially with regular mousetraps.
Seeing how protective you are of your design, I wont demand anything, this message is more of a reference and reassurance for other competitors.

Besides, you are assuming the distance score of zero, which is not as easy as everyone boasts about, in fact.
Off to Orlando!

My vehicle weighs about 280 grams= 0.6 pounds, so I can somewhat understand your statement about weight.
But, 0.4 pounds in 4m/s is a little over-exagerrating. What is your basic design?
