Does anyone have any idea exactly what Wind Power will be? On one hand, I think it will be just like Physics Lab from this past year, because it's not bolded on the tentative events list, but on the other hand, the trial event rules (from 2004) describe it as an on-site fan building event.

What baffles me is why Awesome Aquifer (B) and Sumo Bots (C) have been listed under the Inquiry section, when they have absolutely no reason to be there. Surely, if the committee wants to move away from inquiry events, they could at least be honest about it and put those events where they belong.

Those events are in the Inquiry section because of politics.
From what I understand, the Technology committe didn't want to do Sumobots but someone on the Inquiry committe pushed for it.
So, they just decided to throw out all of the rules and do whatever they wanted.

Anyway, it's all just another event, it doesn't matter where it is.

I am surprised Awesome Aquifers returned. I heard that the Groundwater Foundation paid SO a lot of money to have the event in back a couple of years ago. But, I heard that all the tournament coordinators hated the event because nobody wanted to judge oral presentations all day. My coach believes that the oral part will be removed from the event - but then, why not just removed Awesome Aquifers and combine it with Dynamic Planet and DP into Streams, Rivers, Lakes AND Groundwater. What do you all think Awesome Aquifers will be like this time around?

I think that it does matter, because there's a reason why the number of events in each category remains constant: it retains balance. If they want to add more earth science or building events, they should make it clear by putting the new events in the correct categories.

Muscular and Respiratory make the most sense I think because they are actually related.

Muscular and Digestive only really seem to link with that muscles are in the digestive system.

Muscular and Circulatory could work too, but they just had cardiovascular...

They are going to be keeping muscular and getting rid of skeletal. I have a feeling they are going to bring nervous system back.

Does anyone know anything/have experience with microbe mission? Microbiology is my specialty.

I hope they will use the nervous system! I absolutely love the brain

You should read "When the Air Hits Your Brain" by Frank Vertosick Jr. It's an awesome book about his "tales from neurosurgery". Highly recommended.
