Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C
Where do you think a score of 18 would place at states?

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C
you diagnosed your own problem. If your string is too long then the problem isn't with the kind of string. Just cut it shorterrafaelnadal wrote:so my build goes forward but it just stops and doesnt rotate back (i wrapped the string the opposite way as well..)
any ideas on what could be causing this? my string seems to be really long and doesnt cause any tension on the lever arm until i wind it a good amount which i think could be the cause? idk if thats due to too short a lever arm or just bad string. (try fishing wire instead?)

Even if it does stretch the mousetraps will not impart enough force to get near the level of stress required.nnaya wrote:Is fishing wire a good choice for the string?
Does anyone know if it stretches over several runs?
Thank you.

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C
While a score of 18 is something to be proud of, in Michigan atleast it is not too rare of a score. At my last few invites I have seen a score of 12 and 16 and other teams approaching similar scores. I do believe, however, that it would place at most states4Head wrote:which state?lavarball wrote:Where do you think a score of 18 would place at states?

Exactly. 18 is dramatically different in a state like Michigan as opposed to Hawaii or something.Chameleon02 wrote:While a score of 18 is something to be proud of, in Michigan atleast it is not too rare of a score. Agreed. It's a good score regardless and from what I've seen in Ohio invites it might even place at OH states this year.

True. Thanks.
Its a little cumbersome than normal string coz it is so slippery. Might have to superglue the knots to make sure they don't slip.

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C
It's long but i have small wheels that need a lot of string to be able to cover the distance.4Head wrote:you diagnosed your own problem. Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C
Yeah. That's what I found with fishing line as well. Some knots will work pretty well but making a loop was almost impossible for me. I ended up using the string I had for scrambler since it was nylon and I could melt the ends to make sure the knots couldn't come undone.nnaya wrote:4Head wrote:Even if it does stretch the mousetraps will not impart enough force to get near the level of stress required.nnaya wrote:Is fishing wire a good choice for the string?
