Re: Keep the Heat B/Thermodynamics C
I need help figuring out what to do with my box, I have everything done but I don't feel like it's finished. I don't have anything to put above the beaker in the box, any ideas?

Re: Keep the Heat B/Thermodynamics C
A lid?
Now, I do want to throw out some experimental evidence from my team on that note. We tested both insulated and non-insulated lids, and the heat retention was the same for both boxes meaning, oddly, the type of lid used had no significant effect on the results. I found that surprising. Distance from the top of the beaker might, however.

I don't know any definition of the word 'notes' that says they have to be handwritten.....Issa2Fun wrote:Hi I have a question:
Does anyone know if the notes in the binder have to be actual notes or can they be resources copied with a copy machine and/or printed out?

Re: Keep the Heat B/Thermodynamics C
Quick question about the calculator impound FAQ clarification - what's the reason for having the calculators impounded? We've never had to have them impounded before (exceptions for us were goggles and calculator), since the kids normally have to use them in multiple events. We require our kids to bring their own calculators, and I think each of my KTH kids will need to use it in another event.
Thanks!
Thanks!

We didn't have to impoud our calculator so I don't think it's required. Also, you're allowed to bring any type of calculator, I don't know why they would need to impound it.

We've never had our calculators impounded either, but the 2/17/13 FAQ posting - http://soinc.org/node/263 - says this:135scioly wrote:We didn't have to impoud our calculator so I don't think it's required. As a KTH event supervisor, I've never impounded calculators or not allowed students to bring calculators in with them. I'm just trying to get clarification as to the reason for the change, since I'm sure it will be asked. Thanks!(section: 2 / paragraph: d / line: 1)

Re: Keep the Heat B/Thermodynamics C
At the last invitational, we were required to impound our calculators (as per the rules and the FAQ) and I'm also interested as to why the rules require this. It makes me uncomfortable to leave $100+ electronics at the impound area, out of my sight, and it necessitated making arrangements to borrow other people's calculators for Circuit Lab and Astronomy.
