I understand why nationals doesn't give you back your corrected tests, but I don't see the issue with posting raw scores. And I would like to know how tightly gaped R&M was.
I don't know how tight R&M was for Division B, but for Division C the top scores were 133, 127, 127, 127, 126, and 126 out of 150. The lowest score was 52.
Wow, how in the world do you make an objective tiebreaker for those scores (where did you find those anyhow)?

Certain objective questions on the test were indicated with asterisks as tiebreaker questions; the total number of correct answers to these marked questions constituted the first tiebreaker. Second tiebreaker was number of stations with a perfect score. Third tiebreaker was number of stations with one error, then the number of stations with two errors, and so on.
I got this information from the event supervisor. He also told me that to the best of his memory, a maximum of three teams were tied at any given score, and that the second-highest quintile of teams was the most tightly packed score-wise.

I'm sure this has been asked numerous times - is there a specific reason why raw scores are not posted after a national tournament? It would be nice for someone who placed a few spots away from top 6 or top 10 to see how close they were.

I've had the same question. My best guess is because they don't want you hurting yourself when you see you were half a point away from a medal
On another note; when the heck are the pictures from Nats going to be posted?

A bunch of pictures may be found here, albeit in a very inconvenient form:
http://www.scienceolympiad2012.com/news-and-media/
I didn't think those pictures were the entirety of the pictures that they took, so I emailed Bob Kopach for the media package, as per the directions at
http://www.soinc.org/2012_national_tournament. However, the materials he sent me were in an inconvenient FTP site (which I still don't quite understand how to use) and it appeared to be just the team pictures. I was hoping they'd have something like UW-Madison put together last year (
http://nso.wisc.edu/photo_archive.php#awards) but alas, it doesn't look like that will be the case.

Last year they had all the medal winners go backstage to get their pictures taken, which wasn't the case this year. Is NSO going to post the entire broadcasts of the opening & awards ceremony?

I was hoping maybe they would just take a picture of all the teams up on the stage for each individual event.
I'm sure they will have the opening and closing ceremony broadcast online.

I, as well, was under the impression that they were photographing the winning individuals on stage, which is why I expected pictures to be posted. But perhaps this was not the case.

If I recall correctly, everything (pictures + archived video of both ceremonies) was online by this time last year. Perhaps we should contact someone at nationals to see if this is still being worked on.

Thanks! I think Jenny Kopach,
[email protected], might actually be a more useful contact, so could you please send your email to her too?
