He shouldn't be.

a) Not only did you only give us 24 hours (of which we can reasonably say 10-4 were spent sleeping/at school, so 6), you didn't give the hint, which was practically necessary, until 2 hours in, so we had, in essence, 4 hours.
b) That clue was horribly arbitrary. 2 things both being 2 letters could mean so many things; it could've been a one time pad, for example.
