We would have gone last year but we bombed Ecology and Fossils. Regionals on wednesday, states in a month or so, and if we make it to nationals, we don't sleep for a month.
are you from Athens? Sounds like it. haha

How do you have a regional tournament on a weekday?! :?: :!:
For our school, it counts as an excused absence. I would rather spend my weekday in Science O than my saturday, but that's just me.

yeah I'd think weekends are more preferable because it's less stressful and you have more time to just spend on scioly.

Hmmmm, I disagree with that, I don't feel i have more stress because it's on a weekday. If anything, It makes my day that much better because I don't have to hear certain teachers drone on about stuff they don't even know.
And I don't understand the second part? we have our competition all day, I dont feel that we have less time to spend on scioly.

But to each his own, right? And it's a good thing you're in a state with saturday competitions then ;)

and to the thread question, I highly doubt we have a chance at nationals.

So you enjoy having work to make up from missed school days? I sure don't :|

yeah that's what I was saying. Missing a school day just means more work that night, right after a stressful day of scioly, but when my competition is on Saturday, then I spend all Friday (even all through my classes at school) studying scioly.
and yes good thing my competitions are Saturdays. =P

Not really it takes away from school work time..

I agree with you guys on the make up work, and I would still go to a science olympiad competition no matter what day it was, even a weekend, but on weekdays that means one less day of dress code for me, and I never really get sick so I never take any sick days, meaning these would be some of the only days I'm ever absent. Both have pros and cons anyway.

Eh I'd rather have it on a Sat. but I'm still shocked that the schools will allow everyone to miss a day, when they could just have it on a sat.

I mean missing a school day isn't that uncommon. A lot of clubs/activities take students out for activities during school days. In fact Scioly is the one of the few clubs that have activity on weekends (other than sports) in our school
