The Northwestern Regional tournament has also been cancelled. There is no mention of rescheduling in the email they sent out.

Probably not a coincidence that the two regionals that have been cancelled so far were the two regionals hosted at Penn State campuses.

CEPA has cancelled as well: https://www.kutztown.edu/events/science-olympiad.html

I feel terrible for the seniors affected by this. PASO can resume next year. This year's seniors lose something forever. I hope the sites cancelling these events with such short notice (since I doubt PASO has much say) grasp the gravity of that.

EDIT: I want to be clear I'm not making light of the threat. But canceling this close is brutal.

From what I was told by my advisor, Penn State won’t hold events with more than 100 people, hence why the regionals got cancelled

I have gotten a few PMs since my last post, so let me clarify: I am not currently affiliated with PASO and I do not know their plans regarding the state tournament, or how likely they are to cancel states. All I know is all you know. Considering how fast the situation is changing, I do not want to provide any speculation on what will happen that far in the future.

NEPA's announcement states that they do plan to reschedule within the next two months: https://sites.psu.edu/wbscienceolympiad/. It's not ideal, but I love that they are stating that they are actively trying to find a solution. I wish the region and PASO the best of luck.

They just sent an email out to all coaches saying that they're trying their best to reschedule the regional tournaments.... so maybe there's still a chance? Although when we emailed earlier asking about CEPA they said it wasn't likely.

Attempting to reschedule is better than nothing. Hopefully, some rescheduled regionals can happen at a later date.

PASO has made a public announcement essentially corroborating Anomaly's post: http://pascioly.org/index.php?p=announc ... b#03102020

I just volunteered this past weekend at a Maryland regional held at a high school with about 40 participating teams, and it worked fine. It does not run much differently than an invitational. If it were to work out, I think teams can have confidence that they will have a worthwhile competition experience.

DISCLAIMER: I am not directly affiliated with PASO. I am merely relaying any public updates I find.

Penn State did not make any ruling about this.

https://www.centredaily.com/news/local/ ... 27171.html

This was all PASO.

Wilkes-Barre Canceled which caused Erie to Cancel which caused Kutztown to Cancel.

This is typical over panicking.

Penn State is still hosting sporting events and classes.

PIAA is still holding playoffs

PA department of health has also not promoted canceling group events. You should be angry but there is nothing to do other than promoting rescheduling.
