Try to be good lab assistants, put out decent undergrad research, host well-run tournaments, and coach Div A, B, or C, but mostly feel bad.
Fixed.

Point taken, but the majority of alumni-run tournaments are very well run (e.g. MIT, Caltech, Yale, Cornell, Valpo, probably more that I don't know about).

Chem Lab 2017 Topics

Post by primitivepolonium »

Good day to you all. Anyone know what's replacing Kinetics next year for Chem Lab? Trying to possibly get a friend or two started early.

Can't find any consistent cycle for that event's topics.
Div D! I really like chem, oceanography, and nail polish--not in that order.

Troy HS, co2016.

Feel free to PM me about SciOly or college or whatever! I really enjoy making online friends.

It seems bernard posted that the tentative focus for Chem Lab is thermodynamics and gas laws.

It's already been somewhat discussed in this thread, but why is fossils rotating out? Why would the committee change that? :( it's been a consistent three year rotation for a while and I am determined to keep my trilobites and corals in rotation for as long as possible.
If anyone has committee contact info that would be great.

I heard Time to Fly is a trial event this year. If it is around next year, I am going to do it so well! It also looks like a very easy event, you just have to memorize a ton of FAA regulations and things like that.
Problems are better pursued with General Electric GE90-115 engines.

2016 Nats:
Road Scholar:4th 8-)
Bottle Rockets: 9th
Meteorology: 11th
Gliders: 21st

(other events: Green Gen, Crime Busters, Helicopters, Hovercraft, Air trajectory)

It's not in my committee, but I'm pretty sure the reason for the switch is to get Fossils / Rocks on the standard 2 year rotation schedule that virtually all the other events follow. They were a bit of an anomaly, which the committee is correcting.
