I got a question. What did you guys do with Cophosaurus and Holbrookia, and Urosaurus and Uta? They put each pair together on the list. Did you handle them separately?

Well, I did a page for each species, not each genus. In the genus Cophosaurus i wrote a page about the Greater Earless Lizard. On that page I also listed and described the 2 subspecies of the greater earless lizard. For the genus Holbrookia I wrote a page about the Lesser Earless Lizard and included all of it's subspecies.
For Urosaurus I wrote a page about the Long-tailed Brush Lizard and included descriptions of it's subspecies. For Uta I wrote a page about the Common Side-blotched Lizard and included descriptions of it's 5 subspecies

The main reason why I made my own binder for amphibians and reptiles was because i didnt like the way the field guide set up the identification part. They only showed 3 species per page so you had to keep flipping through many pages plus the pictures were of poor quality. In my binder i put i think 25 species per page and included all subspecies. I eventually learned how to identify them better seeing them next to many different species rather than just two.

Is that for nats? Cause for states and regionals, I thought we only needed to knowup to genus.

According to the rules we only need to know up to genus but my state likes to ask questions on individual species and even subspecies

They cant do that, though, if it says in the rules they only go to genus. Someone should really say something.

Most of the events in my state dont follow the rules. The metric mastery event used the US system!!! They had to estimate how many POUNDS a clamp weighed. The metric people on my team dont really know much about the US system.. they only know metric so that question they got wrong and it costed them first place!!!

What???? The event is called METRIC mastery, i assume that means they should be using metric. You really gotta fix that, they have to abide by the rules.

How would I do that? I have no way of contacting any of the event supervisors. Well, I do know the contact info for the reach for the stars event supervisor but i dont have a problem with that test completely breaking the rules.

Are the event supervisors the same every year?

Well, this year was my first year so I wouldnt really know but i'm assuming they are. I know for fact that the reach for stars man is there every year. I would also assume the amphibians and reptiles supervisors are going to be the same since a local herpetology center ran the event. I would think the fossils supervisor will be the same person that ran rocks and minerals last year.
