The relative risk is (7/(7+124))/(1/(1+78)) which is equal to 4.22. This means someone who is exposed is 4.22 times as likely to develop the disease as someone who is not exposed.

to figure out if a common infectious agent/organism cause this outbreak, to prevent additional cases from the same source, to tell how to prevent this problem in the future
