HIV attacks helper T cells, limiting the body's ability to send signals to alert other white blood cells of infection and signals that tell white blood cells to multiply and create antibodies. This decreased immune response makes the body much more vulnerable to opportunistic infections, leading to AIDS. In the advanced stages of HIV, opportunistic can be deadly.

Arteries are red blood vessels that carry oxygenated blood from the heart to other parts of the body. Veins are blue blood vessels that carry de-oxygenated blood from other parts of the body to the heart.

Re: Anatomy & Physiology B/C
Kind of... with exceptions.
Your turn
Arteries take blood away from the heart and veins take blood to the heart. The pulmonary veins, for example take oxygenated blood to the heart, rather than unoxygenated blood. Other differences: arteries have high pressure and low volume while veins have low pressure and high volume (65% of blood volume is in the venous system). arteries have no valves due to the high pressure, while veins need valves in order to prevent backflow. Arteries have a thick, muscular wall, while veins have thin walls. Arteries are deeper in the body (which prevents a cut from hitting an artery and spewing blood at high pressures) while veins lie closer to the surface.

Oh, I thought you meant where in the body does oxygen bind to hemoglobin.
