Oh, well, that's very helpful. Thanks for that! :) I didn't even ask for it, but I couldn't find that either.

Do you have to make your own hydrometer? Or are you allowed to buy one.

Correction: you have to make one. The rules call it 'student built', and (I think) section 3c somethingorother says it can't be made of commercially produced parts.

Yea Skink is right. Sorry I don't know why I would say that...

There are many places to find a good hydrometer; I'm doing a more complex one this year because last year, mine didn't work (I think it was kind of intimidating, though, because I used different intervals).

The hydrometer part shouldn't be too difficult as there is a considerably large range of acceptable answers.

I used the simple one that the Training PowerPoint features; don't use that unless you're an idiot like me who did everything in the last week! If you start now, you should be able to make the most complex thing there. I don't even know how I got it right (if I did). >.<

The one we used last year was very, very simple, and it worked well whenever we used it. If precision was weighted more, more time-consuming salinometers would be more worth the effort, but I don't think you have to go crazy. There are other things that deserve more of your attention.
