Some thoughts: The 50th Pythagorean triple when ordered by hypotenuse length is 65-72-97. The Wiki page on Kopaka says something about Toa, which could be a reference to the "Toa" part of the SOHCAHTOA mnemonic. "Cosigning" could be pointing us in the direction of cosine. Maybe dividing different combinations of 65, 72, and 97 could lead to a solution to the clue?

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if the sassy targeted someone not active in these games, given the warning that "absolutely ANY other individuals may be targeted from the forum."

Sigh. I'll protect croman74 because the cosine of an angle in the aforementioned triangle is 0.74. None of the other cosine or tangent values produced any numbers that I could connect to members of the forum. Croman74 hasn't participated since game #56, but the sassy's warning about any member being fair game makes me a little more comfortable protecting him. Meh.

Fellow officers: PLEASE PROTECT. Protecting someone based on shoddy reasoning is better than protecting no one at all. We should have 5 people protected for every single clue.

I protect Squanto because a) SOHCAHTOA is an Indian word, b) Kopak sounds like it.

Oh well, but I think the clue explanations are working, because I'm sure I would be questioning the logic of the clue if it wasn't explained

You do know it's spelt "cosine" and not "cosign", right?
