It depends on your counterweight & projectile.
my calculations / estimates
Assuming you have a perfect FAT and a a nice, round, solid ball are:
1.5kg with 20g ball ~25m
2.5kg with 40g ball ~30m

If you have a traditional treb it will be much less.
The absolute max is:
1.5kg with 20g ball ~20m
2.5kg with 40g ball ~22.5m

Please don't ask such open-ended questions. We're not going to type up a whole page on how to build one. Instead, it'd be better if you asked specific questions pertaining to issues you are having or things you don't know. There is however the Storm the Castle Wiki page: http://scioly.org/wiki/Storm_the_Castle. It is a great starting point for many beginners. Also, a simple Google search should yield lots of information.

If you were referring to my post it was 25m with 1.5kg (not 0.5) and a 20g ball.

0.5kg will yield a throw of ~9m with the same 20g ball.

Try to be a little more specific, because the answer to that question depends on many other factors. What are you comparing it to (i.e. sling length or counterweight arm)? And what type of trebuchet are you using (i.e. hcw, fcw, fat, etc.)? Generally, with hcw, fcw, and fat, you want the throwing arm to be quite a bit longer than the counterweight arm, and a little longer than the sling length.

I'm comparing it to the sling length and i'm using a fat trebuchet.
