Summer SO Preperation

Water Testing was like suicide, I'll have to read the rules on Forensics... although I kind of decided to step away from it after an epic fail (58) at nationals. For whatever reason, although it's not the hardest event, it really tends to stress me out.

I guess you just got unlucky, the year you did it was the year water quality was in. I mean I've never heard of ANYONE who liked/was good at water testing haha.

Oh, GOD...water testing was absolutely horrible. At almost all of the invitationals, the proctors completely botched water testing on the tests...

Forensics; You guys didn't already have mixtures? In Science Crime Busters, in middle school, we had mixtures, even at Regionals... It was by far the hardest part.

Mixtures were never part of the rules for Forensics, at least in the time that I've been doing it (three years ago).

I heard from my coach like... WAY ago (maybe 5 years?) they had powder mixtures. I guess they realized it was too hard haha.

Doubtful it was too hard....B division has always had mixtures of powders for Crime Busters. It's actually a surprise to me that C wouldn't.

But their powders are easy and none are too similar to each other.

Yeah...I'm not sure what powders the B division have, but the C division powders would create quite a challenge if there were mixtures.

I ordered the Sibley Guide to Trees online, going to self-teach myself Earth Science for Dynamic Planet and R&M, maybe read up on some estuarine ecology and IDing invertebrates for Water Quality... Should be fun.

im planning to do R&M, Forestry, Optics, maybe compute this (though i highly doubt it) and maybe mousetrap,
studying for the first three, but the last two are maybe events, so im not studying....

I'm planning on Optics, RS, TPS, Towers, ChemLab, Fermi, and probably Astro, Keep the Heat, Wheeled Vehicle, and maybe Experimental...

On second thought, maybe studying this summer would be a good idea...

and our state and regional tests didn't have anything on physical optics, just geo optics
