oh...so like ornithology, they would give you some topics that they might ask you questions in, such as for birds, migration and habitat? but like with tree stuff, so like stuff about the trees?

Yup, tree stuff. I'd imagine the event will focus mostly on anatomy and physiology, systematics and classification, and ethnobotany.

So if my partner and I wanted to try and prepare over the summer (since we know nothing about trees), should we just focus on learning to ID regional trees and other miscellaneous info about them?

In the event do we actually get to see the trees/parts of trees or do we just have to look at pictures of trees? It doesn't seem too hard to get actual samples of bark, leaves, etc in addition to pictures.
