Seriously though, if I posted a photo of our Science Olympiad's room, you'd think that pigs lived here. :|

But yeah, a dedicated team and coach goes a long way. That's why a bunch of us are sitting here during our spring break right now.
How I wish i could have gone to Nationals. My school never had had the time for meetings afterschool anymore and the team had really lost it then. I knew a few determined kids who stayed up till midnight everyday studying for SO and others who I think should not be on the team. My coach doesn't seem to take SO seriously as a competition, just as a club. We have meetings for an hour twice a week if some other meetings doesn't come up. After Regionals I'm sure that we could have made Nats, we got first in NYC but between those competions we barely practiced and 3 new events were added. My coach talked to the Gelinas team and heard that they do SO everyday and more than an hour too. Definitely lacking a full dedicated team and time. Maybe that's why I was in the only event that my team got a medal for, Awesome Aquifers. I didn't know what to expect at the compition too. What do you guys do to get so good?
Goodbye Science Olympiad, until next year.

This isn't dedication for me >.< My season is over. This is social networking. Again.

On a related note, does anyone have tips for motivating your team?

Good question. I'm still relatively new to SO, but a lot of people on my team are really motivated by trying improve upon their performance from the year before (whether it's placement, understanding, etc.). My partner and I had a horrible time with Write it Do it, but we've made arrangements to practice for this event in advance and have come up with new ways of approaching the event so that we're not embarrassed by the same event 2 years in a row.

Maybe write the name of your rival on a board? From what our coach told us, in previous years we would always have the names of our rivals written on the board as a reminder. Now we don't do that anymore. And if you know the history of Stroudsburg, that could possibly be a reason for our recent failures. And/or the change of coaches.
