For the kill clue, I noticed that all of them start with "ya". Taking them out, we get:

I personally think there might be a connection with the Tawny Man Trilogy by Robin Hobb because the w's in win, fow, and warm make me suspicious. Also perhaps "The Nature Man" by Jack London since it mentions a tawny man.
