Re: Building materials (excluding covering)
The spars are the long members from end to end of the rotor on built up rotors. On solid props, just run the wire through the center.
Bearing to replace the bead, first there's nothing magic about the bead, simple glass bead of right side, you can find them at Hobby Lobby, Micheals, craft stores in general. Alternatives include small brass washers (think tiny, just a 0.020 inch hole by maybe 3/32 diameter), teflon washers (same tiny size).

Re: Building materials (excluding covering)
I found mine at a local hobby store. They carry multiple thicknesses. It was located near all of the other rods (brass rods, threaded rods). It's basically really fine metal wire, don't know why it's called music wire.

Re: Building materials (excluding covering)
I see...well i guess ill just check various hobby stores. The jewelry wire is quite heavy and thick, what thickness should i be looking for?

Re: Building materials (excluding covering)
Sorry, but I have no idea... I'm not sure what thickness mine is, and it's been a while since I have gotten some. You want the thinnest you can get, but make sure it has a fair amount of strength (it won't need much, since the only force on it is from the rubberband).

Yeah, and those work great too! But if you bend them multiple times, they tend to break.

Re: Building materials (excluding covering)
Can anyone suggest a good gram scale? And also, this is just for lulz, but what do you think of my school not willing to spend the club money (raised through bake sales, they give us 0) on a gram scale, or letting us borrow one of the schools, because they don't want us to sell drugs? Haha, and such im just buying my own...

Re: Building materials (excluding covering)
I think suggested the music wire is 0.020". Not really certain though.

Re: Building materials (excluding covering)
Search for gram scales on Amazon, and you will find some great deals. Get one that has 0.01 gram accuracy, even though they might be a little more expensive. http://www.amazon.com/iFits-0-01g-Pocke ... 63&sr=1-26
There's one, and even though it's small, you can put a piece of cardboard on top and zero out the scale.
