Lots and lots of stringed and percussion instruments, some wind powered, some strange.

I hope Sounds of Music is in C next year. That seems like a fun event. Is it also about music theory, or just making and playing your instruments and orally explaining, basically, how they work and the physics that make them work?

Optics sounds good. Way better than Physics Lab.

I really like Elevated Bridge, but I suppose Towers will suffice.

I'll be alright with Helicopters or Gliders, but right now I'd prefer Gliders because with Helicopters it seems like to adjust anything you almost need to build a new helicopter, and it's very difficult to build rotors with more advanced things like helical twist and airfoils. Gliders sounds like Wright Stuff without the propellers and rubber, which is honestly my least favorite part of the event.

A note on Sumo Bots- it's been a NY trial for a while now, and it seems like a really good event. It's also a good spectator event- my Regionals has the tournament while tests are being scored.

Looks like there will be some good events next year.

Sounds of Music should be both B and C

The judges had a lot of flexibility in how they conducted the event. Like in the 2008 rules, the judge administered an "interview or written test" with a couple questions about the mathematical and physical principles of sound. So sometimes you just talked about your instrument, sometimes you took an exam.

But that was less than 1/4th of the possible points, so the main components are definitely the instruments and how well you play them.

Storm the Castle. Sort of like Trajectory, except I think they go for more power and distance.

Pretty much it was all distance, and the design had to be a trebuchet (counter weight)

I think experimental Design will be gone for div C it has been their for 4 years, I bet they will bring back Robot Ramble, sumo bots is from what I have seen is not like any other SO event that Event is too much 1 vs 1 were all the other events are you against everyone else.
