oh, come on. Watership Down was fine. i liked it, even though nobody else in the whole class did... :?
and everybody does NOT die. seriously.
the rest of the books we read that year were really bad though.

...last year, i read Into Thin Air in language arts. now THERE'S a book where everybody dies. AND it's nonfiction. and it was too long. bleh.
I never said i didn't like Watership down, it was actually a pretty good book. It just reflects on the poor judgment of the teacher

actually, that's what i had to do too. it's probably not a half bad book if you skim the first half of the book and don't have to write a book report on it :?
mostly the first part of his expectations or whatever is soooo loooooonggggg... but then one part in the middle is okay.
i dunno if it should really be considered one of the worst books.

...however, in 7th grade we had to read Johnny Tremain. that was horrible. SUCH a boring book.
and i tried reading The Metamorphosis because my mom was making me, but it was so dumb i hid it and thankfully my mom forgot :P

Technically, we had a choice of what book to read. I began with great expectations, but after a week, and 2 chapters in, a gave up and read "the Good Earth". In comparison, i got through that in about 2.5 hours, and it was a thousand times better.

If anyone needs an idea of the types of books we read in our district, one of our 7th grade reading books was about a democratic group of bunnies that engage in warfare with a bunny tyrant group, and they all end up decapitated
In 7th grade we read The Monument by Gary Paulsen? i forget if it was by him.

Anyway, the book was terrible. There's this boring town where they decide to make a monument to 12 soldiers that died in a war that came from that town. So they call in an artist and he teaches this girl, the narrator, how to draw really well. Then he draws some provocative stuff, showing how the people in the town really are, not just how they act. And one of those pictures is a nude drawing of the librarian. So everyone gets mad at him but then the lady who he drew the nude picture of decides to fall in love with him and he talks about art and stuff and then everyone likes him again.

And after all that, he goes "i know what the monument will be. We'll plant 12 trees next to each other". And everyone goes "That's brilliant!" And then he leaves with the librarian. The end.

What a waste of a book.

For me........

Ruby Electric. Its about a poverty stricken family who have a computer and their daughter, who writes screenplays she wants to send to Spielberg. Then a strange turn of events happens and they paint a mural of the Pleistocene (the only good aspect other than Steven Spielberg) on a concrete wall. I hated this book so much. :x :x :x :x

Read Ender's Game.
It's my favorite book ever. It's amazing.

Or The Lightning Thief is pretty good too, if you havent read it. And the rest of the books in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series.

I've read both. I didn't really like Ender's Game that much...I mean it was interesting, but it wasn't really too exciting except for the catch at the end. I liked the Percy Jackson series a lot though.

I had to read The Outsiders for school before and I actually thought it was pretty good compared to some of the other books we had read that year.
Just read Rip Van Winkle in school not really a book more of a story but it was still pretty bad.
