1. What form of inheritance does this pedigree show?

2. What is wobble?

3. What kind of operon is the trp operon?
1. autosomal dominant
2. Wobble is where non-Watson-Crick base pairing occurs in the 3rd codon position, this allows tRNA anticodons to pair with more than one codon.
3. trp operon is a negative repressible operon.

Can I just answer #1? Because either 2 and 3 are Designer Genes territory or I have small brain
1. Autosomal dominant
EDIT: Rip amk578 beat me

Yes, all correct (LittleMissNyan, you also got it correct. Number 3 is Division C, but I'm not sure about number 2...)

Your turn!

1. In eukaryotic ribosomes, the size of the small subunit is _____ and the large subunit is ______. Combined, a eukaryotic ribosome is ______. (give answer in S units)

2. Describe the difference between an exonuclease and endonuclease.

3. Is DNA replication faster in eukaryotes or prokaryotes?

Quick question: Are these questions for division C or am I just very unprepared for the type of questions in regionals?

Note: This is my first year doing this event and I’m new to Div C
I feel like these could be considered harder Div Bs and medium Div C?? Honestly, I’m kinda confused on this too, but my main strategy is just learning my way through the topics listed and then hitting up the question forums and deepening my knowledge.

1. 40S, 60S, 80S
2. Exonucleases remove nucelotides one by one off the ends and have no delay; endonucelases make internal cuts producing segments of DNA with a delay.
3. DNA replication is faster in prokaryotes than eukaryotes

Probably mid-level Div C would be about correct, yes.

1. What does RFLP stand for and what is it primarily used for?
2. Who developed DNA fingerprinting?
3. What is the prokaryotic promoter at the -35 element?
