I am not sure which side of this discussion this helps but it seems relevent. The 10th place team at Athens last year was the 3rd place team at Mentor last year.

I am from Eastern PA and wish we had as many invitationals as Ohio had. I am sure it would make our team better to compete more than just Regionals and maybe States.

Wait, I didn't follow the previous conversation. Where is Athens Invitational? If it's in Ohio, I haven't heard of it.

Not that it really matters, but I wouldn't really consider Mentor a difficult competition (or at least not the same caliber as the other ones we have been discussing) considering Centerville isn't there and Mentor doesn't take trophies at it's own tournament - plus there are less teams overall at Mentor than at some of the larger tournaments in Ohio.

The one at Solon is gigantic. I think Northmont & West-Liberty Salem are both pretty large as well.

LASA (Liberal Arts and Science Academy (they ranked 8th at nationals last year)) is going to be driving all the way from Texas to attend the Solon regional in order to experience some real competition prior to nationals. clearly Ohio is superior. ROTFLOL
