And if a competition provides them you might end up with the cheap compasses that don't work well. Its better if they just let people bring their own so that they have one that they are used to.

I didn't do Dynamic Planet last year, but I'm going to start it this year. Are there any really good sources that anyone would recommend? I really want to 1-up the guys from our school who did it last year. :mrgreen:

those are both good another resource is physical geology college textbooks you can get those fairly cheap at a used book store like half price books and when the rules come out remember that google is the best way to find info quickly and it is very accurate if you get a good site

noaa.gov is also really good
if its ur first time doing it starting with a basic earth science book is also a good idea
