Re: Game On B
Ok so I'm pretty good with Scratch, but I have no idea how good the other kids in my group are good with it. I might maybe have to do a quick overview of how to code with Scratch... Any ideas?

Re: Game On B
I would say go over the basics of algorithmic thinking, and then introduce the blocks of code one category at a time
Ok this is epic
Events 2018: Battery Buggy (3rd at Nats), Rollercoaster (18th at Nats), Ping Pong (1st at states)
Events 2019: Codebusters, Ping Pong Parachute (2nd at Regionals OVERALL), Thermodynamics
Events 2020: Sounds of Music, Designer Genes, Ping Pong Parachute

I posted a good guide of basic scratch blocks on the wiki: [wiki]Game On/Scratch Blocks[/wiki].LittleMissNyan wrote:Ok so I'm pretty good with Scratch, but I have no idea how good the other kids in my group are good with it. Otherwise, practice, practice, practice. The Scratch community has lots of good (albeit highly complicated) projects.

Re: Game On B
regarding the game type issue,
i remember seeing a 2019 game types document on soinc.org, but it seems to be removed.
it also doesn't say anything about game types in the rubrics or rules?
so are game types still a thing for div B or is it just game themes?

Re: Game On B
Assuming that its not on the rules, I don't think game types are a thing anymore because it got really hard to make game types. And then they'd combine game types at nationals as well.eddpmett wrote:regarding the game type issue,

I mean, I can't make a maze where the theme is biology. Theres like no scientific concept there

Re: Game On B
I always preferred to use my own mouse. I would always just ask the event supervisor if I could use my own. If I could, then great. If I can't, then it's not that big of a deal.Galahad wrote:they should... and per the rules under 2a (allowed equipment) mouses and mousepads are not listedNba2302 wrote:wait, does everyone get the same type of computers? and can you bring your own gaming mouse and mouse pad?
Re: Game On B
Hi, new to GameOn.
Question: In the competitions, do they allow participants to use the inbuilt sprites/sounds/backgrounds that scratch already provides? I'm referring to the "default library". The rules say no internet assets are allowed, which I understand. Curious if scratch's own library can be used or if participants need to draw their own?
Thanks

I believe you can, though you're expected to draw your own for points.sciolynewcomer wrote:Hi, new to GameOn.
