Re: Anatomy
I would think so too... At my states tehy asked about what controls the pH of the blood, and I believe the answer was bicarbonate.Flavorflav wrote:Maybe fibrinogen, prothrombin, and the lipoproteins?

Re: Anatomy
Can anyone explain what automated pacemakers and defibrillators do? And what is the role of aspirin in heart attacks?

Re: Anatomy
well pacemakers and defibrillators would regulate the beating of the heartRightorRong wrote:Can anyone explain what automated pacemakers and defibrillators do? And what is the role of aspirin in heart attacks?
i'm not sure of aspirin in heart attacks though

Re: Anatomy
Artificial Pacemakers are used to simulate the "pacemaker" tissue of the SA node. It helps allow the heart (atria) contract correctly. Defibrillators provide an electrical shock to get the heart back into normal rhythm. Aspirin is used to thin the blood and prevent heart attacks/ strokesRightorRong wrote:Can anyone explain what automated pacemakers and defibrillators do? Do artificial pacemakers make the ventricles contract?pjgscioisamazing wrote:Artificial Pacemakers are used to simulate the "pacemaker" tissue of the SA node. Re: Anatomy
Well, the pacemaker is what directly allows the atria to contract, but then the electrical impulse goes down to the AV node, and then passes to the Bundle of His, into the bundle branches, and then goes to the purkinje fibers, which makes the ventricles contract. So yes, it does technically make the ventricles contract.RightorRong wrote:Do artificial pacemakers make the ventricles contract?pjgscioisamazing wrote:Artificial Pacemakers are used to simulate the "pacemaker" tissue of the SA node.
