Re: Water Quality B/C
For all of the tests I've seen, the part about macro-organisms have all been matching, with nothing on their reproduction, diet, and other things about them listed on the rules.

I had some feeding questions, but you're right, matching really is the biggest thing.cngu23 wrote:For all of the tests I've seen, the part about macro-organisms have all been matching, with nothing on their reproduction, diet, and other things about them listed on the rules.

Re: Water Quality B/C
I have only had pictures that we had to identify. I always have way to much information, so I have a whole page for the macroinvertebrates, and I haven't been tested on any of it.gigaboo wrote:I had some feeding questions, but you're right, matching really is the biggest thing.cngu23 wrote:For all of the tests I've seen, the part about macro-organisms have all been matching, with nothing on their reproduction, diet, and other things about them listed on the rules.

Yeah. That's why I'm taking off some of the information I have for macroinvertebrates. I'm only including reproduction and diet in my notes, since I'm memorizing what they look like. It only takes up around half to two-thirds of a page.bookworm2110 wrote:I have only had pictures that we had to identify. In regionals, I ran across a question on sodium thiosulfate. What category under the rules would this relate to?

Would that be nutrient cycles? Or water testing?cngu23 wrote:

Re: Water Quality B/C
So apparently, it is used for a part of dissolved oxygen testing. Most people have said that the competitions would not involve concepts as specific as the certain chemicals used. So as this was on the Maryland regionals... just shows that questions may appear.quizbowl wrote:Sodium thiosulfate is used for water testing.2win wrote:Would that be nutrient cycles? Re: Water Quality B/C
So at my regional we were given this
and we were asked to identify it and ask how it is used. Does anybody know specifically how it is used? Thankfully we were allowed to touch it and if you looked through the lens it said salinity. But i'm pretty sure we got the how it is used part wrong.
EDIT: Has anybody else got questions asked like this?

I believe that it is called a refractometer. It uses the bending of light in different materials to give a result for the salinity of something.ptkid wrote:So at my regional we were given thisand we were asked to identify it and ask how it is used. Re: Water Quality B/C
What exactly should I include on my notes for this?
Never been in it before and got put in it because my 3 events were in the same time frame.
