What type of balance are you referring to? Balance of the mass of the rotor? Pitch?

We also did not use a kit (nor ever did at any point through the year), and as 3rd place were less than 10 seconds away from the first place winning time. Hectic check in, but ultimately everything worked out. Congrats to everyone!

Are you positive they were all parlor copters? I saw a few that weren't.

Either way, if the rules don't change majorly, expect the times to improve by a TON next year.

I also know that the third place team never consulted a kit

ok- let me clearify. Idk how all used the kit- but nearly ALL the helicopters whether knowingly or not had essentially the same design. Parlor helicopter with 2 rotors, mylar covers, balsa, only real difference that I saw was thickness of rubber and rotor angles.

I'm still bummed about nats, the first flight landed us 8th and the rubber on the second flight had 60 more winds, but at some point during the flight, the rubber broke. That has the be the second worst time for a rubber to break.

We also are a little upset... Our heli hit a girder due to the draft in the building and fell about 20 feet before it righted and flew up again. we lost about 10-12 secs due to the fall and that would of put us in first rather than 4th. But im still happy with 4th since it wouldn't have made a difference in the final team placing. I think centerville had like 30 some points on us.

Not sure if anyone remembers, but someone claimed a five minute helicopter..... What happened to that?

It's still possible. Maybe you'll see it next year :)
