Between 1st and 8th place, Paleonaps. :3

So, Gelinas got in first place! We've regained our title, with a new record of 95 points apparently, too! :D
And we're going to Nationals with Eagle Hill again, too. I'm PUMPED. 8D

Congratulations to all of the teams, competitors, and alternates! :D
Nationals 2011: Flying Bird; team (Gelinas) ~ 7th
Nationals 2010: Optics ~ 9th; team (Gelinas) ~ 3rd

I have no regrets about 3rd place. We did the best we've ever done as a school, and it was loads of fun. 8-) The only thing that was sad was when our Wright Stuff plane got stuck in the basketball hoop in the gym, so our team needed to use the backup plane while our tech teacher tried to get it out using a really long pole. :|

Grats to Gelinas/Eagle Hill for making nats, as well as everyone else who participated. :)
ornithology, forestry, entomology, triple E, green generation, water quality, dynamic planet (lakes & rivers), awesome aquifers, meteorology, robot arm, write it do it. :)

Did anyone see the bot with a giant stick on the top? What was the purpose of that stick?

Oh, that was our team. Since you needed to move the tennis ball before engaging your opponent, we used the stick to hit the ball faster.

That didn't work so well though- it took just as much time most bouts. You're probably better off using a faster robot, that can get to the ball and turn instead of steering a huge pole around.

Ok, I was under the impression that one of it's uses was to fall into the square in the case you were pushed out, violating the spirit of the competition, but if it was purely a tool to push the tennis ball, that would be ok.

And paleonaps, did you hear the Shock Value scores somewhere? I'd really like to know what I did.

NYS New Paltz 2010 Video

Post by mbfuchs »

Hi guys,

If anyone is interested in the Div. B competition DVD from New Paltz, you can order your copy from this website:
http://www.mikefuchs.com/NYSSO/buyvideo.html

The dvd will include more footage than what was shown at the end of the day on Saturday. A sample will be up on the site soon, and the dvd's, once they are touched up and ready, will start to ship by the end of the month. We'd like to have things moving sooner but unfortunately the personnel in charge are out of town until mid-may :(

Thanks for your support,
Mike

I feel exactly the same as you, just replace 5th with 6th. We definitly did better this year, but I'm still amazed that 3 teams got under 200. Congrats to everyone, it was an amazing year.
