I don't do scioly anymore btw, still lurking but now I do knowledge bowl (quizbowl but that's what my school calls it) and its really refreshing. Ive posted about this before, but scioly really messed me up when I did it, got me burned out at a really young age even if it did teach me research and study skills, and knowledge bowl is like the complete opposite. I'm in western washington state where the knowledgebowl / quizbowl scene is pretty much nonexistent and its all really casual (totally opposite of the division B scioly stuff), we have like one in person tourney a year, and thats been such a better experience. for anyone reading, please don't pressure yourself to do things you don't enjoy for some arbitrary college application goal or award or whatever, do what you enjoy and don't force yourself to be hyper-competitive. life is a lot better when you take it slow.

Do you get ads? I despise Spotify(timed it once. two ads, anywhere from 30sec to 2 minutes long IN BETWEEN EVERY SONG. DEPLORABLE 0/10 I only use it for the Discord status also oh my god it doesn't let you choose songs or make playlists without adding its own "recommendations" okay my rant on Spotify is over). I use YT with an adblocker on my laptop but that's not really convenient on a phone...

Guys go listen to zutomayo immediately!!!
oh yeah also https://github.com/SpotX-Official/SpotX just paste the following into powershell / windows terminal for a cracked spotify client (basically free premium features, no ads, etc etc):

Code: Select all

[Net.ServicePointManager]::SecurityProtocol = 3072; iex "& { $(iwr -useb 'https://spotx-official.github.io/run.ps1') } -new_theme"

Scioly's fine, it's not pressuring if you're not hung up on getting to nationals and not using it heavily for college (or are not relying on getting to a college with an acceptance rate under 30%). If you're having fun with it that's all that matters. I'm glad you're enjoying quiz bowl, I do it too and am terrible at it but still have lots of fun. Our team is basically always 1 place away from regionals, just like our scioly team is always 1 place away from states haha

Meh, there's a lot of pressure to do well if you're on Varsity(especially as an underclassman). It's become a burden that just adds more stress, especially with schoolwork.
I also do quizbowl and am pretty bad, haha! It's a nice change of pace from SciOly though and pretty chill. Cool people and less stress/emphasis to study and not drag your team down.
Quizbowl tournaments are pretty great. I'm going to drag half the team to the nearest boba store this year at regionals =)

Could anyone explain all the random times this site says that it's down for no reason? First time I saw it was in May and I'm still confused but I figured one of the admins knows exactly what it is.

hi hello good day
sending much much MUCH love to any seniors (like myself) scrambling to finish college applications before the new year
please take care of yourselves and remember it'll all be over super soon and that you will never have to answer anymore questions about yourself for the next year
make sure you sit down sometimes and do something you love for a few minutes to calm down because this process is stressful but THAT'S OKAY BECAUSE YOU'RE TAKING A EENSY WEENSY BREAK RIGHT NOW LIKE I TOLD YOU TO
also please remember that whatever happens after you send application does not determine who you are as a person and you are super awesome and amazing and cool no matter if you get accepted rejected or whatever the in between is because I SAID SO
and if you're not a high school senior make sure you send love to any that you know because common app and college board and fafsa all are horrible and can go burn for a couple of minutes
okay goodbye i'm taking a break and writing my last five supplementals take my advice please
bye <3

You know, I stay up past midnight every night. Maybe if I want to fix my sleep schedule, I should try not to stay up till midnight on New Year - sounds like a plan to me.

True; maybe I should consider doing the same. Returning to school is going to be interesting--my sleep schedule's been ruined by winter break and my laziness...
