Tech Events results to the best of my knowledge-

ELG first-about 26 seconds for combined time about 52
ELG second- 25.3 and 25.5 for a combined score of around 50-51 seconds
ELG third- combined time about 49 seconds
ELG sixth~21 second flights for a combined time of 44 seconds

Boom fifth- ~8.2 grams and held ~8.5kg for an efficiency around 1030

Maglev first- ~1000 grams and travelled 92 cm in ~.8s for a vehicle score of ~1250, test not released
Maglev second- ~1100 grams and travelled 92 cm in ~.55s for a vehicle score of ~2000, test not released

Gravity first-12 mm away from target point, times 4.74s and 4.56s, time prediction 4.75 seconds, ramp height 62 cm, total score of 321.87

These are all honest results to the best of my knowledge, as I feel everyone should know following the state competition and in preparation for next year. I would love to know the scores that are missing on this list as well as any robot scores that people know. Please help!

Hey - for maglev i know the top two maglev's at the competition were around 1300-1400. No one got a 2000, i think it was closer to .85 seconds not .55 for second place.
Robot - FM got a 95.52 and WM got a 72
These are just results that i know about, not positive about any of this though.

I was actually on the second place maglev team (Plattsburgh) and we did in fact run in .55 with 1100 grams. We likely scored very poorly on the test, however. Look out WM, we're coming for you next year!! :p

Wow, that's crazy. congrats on getting those kinds of scores! That's really impressive!

Haha, I was near the doorway grading by the time you were there. I really appreciate your help cleaning up the event, by the way, made things a whole lot easier for us.

You guys did really well, top three scores were close. Out of 174 (I think), WM got 159, FM had 157, and you had 155. Very close scores, and I was glad to see so many high scores on the test. How'd you like the samples? Amazing, right?

Hi, would you happen to know how close the top 7 scores were for rocks and minerals?thanks.

Was that gravity vehicle score a legitimate score or is someone trolling? It seems awfully high for first place, even at 10m.

I think he just calculated the score incorrectly, i believe they got around a ~240. The distance was 8.2 meters.

It was a lot of fun talking with Vorwald and cleaning up, but wow. That's incredibly close. I kinda expected it after talking with WM but I was not expecting it to be a two point difference.

AWWWWW YEAHHHHHHHHHHH!
I'm super proud of everyone on my team, especially those who were my partners. I can attest firsthand that you are some of the hardest-working, most driven people I have ever met. I'm also incredibly excited that my career in Science Olympiad will end at a National competition; I can think of no better way to usher out what has been a defining experience in my adolescent life. I am so incredibly privileged to be a member of the same team as all of you - without you, there's no way we could have nabbed a state championship like we did on Saturday.

FM, your team did admirably well, as always. I continue to be wowed by your dedication and commitment to excellence. Hopefully, I'll see you on the awards stage in May.

Hills East - whoa! You guys really did come close to taking FMs spot at Nationals, and you should be proud (as I'm sure you are). What a year this would have been! I'm almost glad I'm graduating this year - I don't exactly want to have to deal with the intense competition that I'm sure will define New York SciO in the coming years, as FM, WM, Hills, Columbia, Syosset, Mount Academy, and Spackenkill all vie for the top two spots. Things are going to be rather rough next year, no doubt about it.

And finally, Syosset - I've heard about the insane level of preparation you put into Science Olympiad this year. You continue to dazzle me with your dedication and spirit (most colorful team room I've ever freaking seen!), and I'm sure it'll pay off soon enough. Who knows, we may soon have an all-Long Island representation at Nationals! I wish you and all teams the best of luck in the coming years.


On another note, I've been thinking about the results recently, and I've talked to my coaches, and I'd like to see your opinion: should NY be split? I was thinking two regions, split at about Westchester, with two teams going to Nationals from each. Thoughts?
