Re: SAT Scores?
We had a practice ACT at our school today - i finished the math section in about 15 minutes. Now if i could just get my English score into the 33+ range, ba boom, 36
Honestly, i think tests such as the AMC are much better indicators of mathematical ability than SAT.
Also, anyone who has taken the Math II subject test, is there any calc on it? I'm confused because my friend said yes but the site says no, just want to make sure.

Re: SAT Scores?
I'm not excellent at math but usually finish in about 15 minutes too. I finish all of the sections in about that much time each. I stress out over my answers for the rest of the time.

Re: SAT Scores?
I've been going through some of the practice questions on the official site and no, no calc. However, there was one question I used (very basic) calculus to solve just for the heck if it (you had to use calculus to solve it algebraically, but you could just solve it graphically otherwise, and it was much quicker to use the graph) so calculus can be beneficial.lllazar wrote:We had a practice ACT at our school today - i finished the math section in about 15 minutes. What I don't like about the Math II is that an 800 is around an 80th percentile... I really think the tests shouldn't be curved this much so we can differentiate between scores better...

Re: SAT Scores?
I had the same situation with the ACT which I also took for Duke Tip, and the reason why junior high school students would get low math scores is probably that you aren't supposed to have learned algebra, geometry (high school level which you take in 10th grade), calculus, and trigonometry. My ACT scores were ,if I remember correctly, 29 for composite score (ACT scores are out of 36.), 31 for science, 30 for English, 25 for math, and 30 for reading.Sunshine Ninja wrote:I am in 7th grade:

Re: SAT Scores?
You need calculus for the ACT?
ornithology, forestry, entomology, triple E, green generation, water quality, dynamic planet (lakes & rivers), awesome aquifers, meteorology, robot arm, write it do it. :)
