I'm working on a pan pipe and I am wondering if there is any internet resource that can tell me exact lengths the pipes need to be? Or is that asking too much?

This is the internet. There's everything. Look hard enough, you'll find a site. Where that site is, though, I have no idea.

Well I have already found something that I could order that includes a sort of kit for building it however if I can find lengths and do it myself it might be better.

Nah, by that I meant the required range for all the notes that can be played at all,not for the scale. The problem is that the instrument is arranged in such a way that it plays a pentatonic scale, though I'm more than capable of playing it.

You said you made some sort of drum? How do you change the pitch of the drum?

It all depends on the lengths of each of the "tongues" that are cut out. However, the only way I think it can be changed after it's built is to wrap bungee cords around it or fill it up with a liquid.

So, wait, are you able to play the full octave from C4 to C5 or not?

As long as you can hit those 8 notes, you're fine, but if you can't hit them, then you'll be missing out on some points.

Wouldn't this be the G2 to G3 octave?

Could you maybe find a picture of it online and post it here? I'm not quite sure what this sort of percussion instrument looks like.

OK, so here's the template: http://www.oddmusic.com/gallery/lp-hank ... mplate.jpg

And here's the actual thing: http://www.instructables.com/image/FC2L ... k-Drum.jpg

There's also plenty of videos of it being played on Youtube.

Ok, that's very interesting. It has to fit in the required octave, and it looks like it could, so all you have to do is play all the notes in order. But you won't get any bonus points.

Maybe you could consider building a second drum larger or smaller than this one to get those extra notes?
