Get this. Our school is allowing Mock Trial, Yearbook, Choirs, and Athletics, but not Science Olympiad.
No idea. My first thought was that we wouldn't be able to social distance, but that doesn't account for why sports are still happening. Another thought could be the fact that they took away our Activity Period this year to allow more time in between classes to go to our lockers to allow for social distancing and all that jazz, but we could still do Science Olympiad outside of school. Mock Trial meets an hour before school from what I heard, so why couldn't Science Olympiad do the same before or after school? I'm honestly not too worried about it because I have a lot of work to do this year anyway, but it is still is a little frustrating.
Dang, that sounds unfortunate. Is there some way to get in touch with the people involved in the decision? Has your coach said anything about why? I can't really see what makes Science Olympiad different enough from other activities to be forbidden. To be honest, choir sounds a bit more dangerous, because people have to expel air more often when singing, yet masks are only so effective. Good luck with your classes though!raytay wrote: ↑September 28th, 2020, 3:37 pmNo idea. Well one of the coaches retired and I don’t think the new science teacher knows we have it yet (all of the science teachers are coaches) and yeah choir is kinda interesting. We all sit in the sanctuary by section six feet apart and we wear masks the entire time, which isn’t super fun, but I mean if we still are singing I’m okay with that. (Also thankfully the workload isn’t too bad right now but soon we have a History test that has been given the title “The Test of Tears” by previous grades so totally not stressed about that at all)gz839918 wrote: ↑September 28th, 2020, 6:01 pmDang, that sounds unfortunate. I just looked it up to be able to do that advertising...sadly to say...I can't...
I don’t think so.... we had too many people last year and we have most if not all of the materials already.
