This still isn't clear to me, what are you defining as the "end of the j part"? To me, its the inside of the round end where the base sits. Is the part where the base sits is supposed to be at 2.5 cm from the back wall or 4.5?
If you tip "J" sideways, the end is the rounded half circle part. sciencecat means that the distance from the outside edge of the rounded half circle part of "J" is 4.5 cm from the wall. I'm pretty sure the part where the base sits is about 4 cm from the wall.

I presume that you are speaking of the distance at which the "U" part is at its focal point correct? Then if so yes it is 4.5cm from the wall.

Measured distance from where base push against J hook to the wall: 25 + 18.3=43.3mm

MadCow2357 and bernard, thanks for your answers. I'll probably add a few ladders around the loading block and laminate the distal end.

I think I understand how to construct a testing wall, but even with the wall, what would I attach it to? Wouldn't I need to drill it into something to hold it in place during testing or can I just hold the testing wall down while my partner tests the boomilever?

You can just hold it down or place a weight (textbooks, sand, etc.)

Word of caution. If you weight it down make sure you have more than enough weight to prevent a flip. If possible it's much safer to use clamps.

Do you know where I can get clamps from? What would I clamp the testing wall to?

Also, I saw that a lot of people use clamps to keep a joint together after applying gorilla glue. What kind of clamp would I use in this case (as I want to be careful with the wood sticks)?

1. I got mine from Menards.
2. Normally to an autoloader extension or to a table. (Something really sturdy)
3. I would use mini clamps. (Mine are Dewalt Mini clamps)

I used medium or large DeWalt clamps (I don't know which) like these:

I got mine from Home Depot. You clamp the bottom edge of the testing wall to the corner of a table.
