Yea, I'd avocate for thinking along this line as well, that friends are just people. Who cares what gender they are? I know boys and girls who like talking about the cool robot they built, and boys and girls who like talking about nail polish. Obviously relationships makes the entire sphere more confusing, but that just happens in friend groups no matter the gender identity of the two people involved.

Yea, this, too. At the end of the day remember that while it may be hard, if you are in a friend group, remind yourself that you do not have to stick around with any of these friends. You can totally get away from them. Sure, it might be a little challenging, but remember that a lot of great things come after a little challenge and adversity! You can do it

When did I become "an old man"? I'm suddenly going to bed earlier and voluntarily waking up around sunrise. (For now, I give it a few weeks at most until something keeps me awake until sunrise and I'm back to vampire life).

This is how I feel sometimes. I have a couple outlets where I feel more comfortable with girls than guys; most of the guys I hang out with are my SO teammates (which doesn't exclude girls either, I have many female friends in SO too).
