It was an entertaining story (although the plot at the beginning did kind of uncannily resemble Star Wars...). His writing style just makes it kind of clear that he is (or was, when he started writing them) pretty young, and maybe less experienced than some other writers.

He's nowhere near the first author to turn what was supposed to be a trilogy into a longer series :-) Even [the great, the exalted- *ahem*] Douglas Adams did it :D

Watch, he'll probably come out with a 5th. That kinda reminds me of the Pendragon series. Great books, but they've just been going on for too long.
And you can tell that paolini has read quite a few other fiction books. His books resemble Lord of the Rings and Stars wars.

That was a great book. I love the whole series. And Rick Riordan writes them pretty fast. I didn't even realize the 4th book came out until like a month later.

If it ends up like Harry Potter that would be freaky.

Of course Harry Potter just works having 7 books, because they're not as freakishly long as Eragon.

I think Harry Potter was a good length for that kind of series. The thing that was stupid was that J.K. Rowling said that Dumbledore was gay. It didn't change anything in the book. All it did was bring more publicity to the book.
