Re: Wright Stuff in Division B!!!
No probably not but it's still fun. Until you get fingers stuck together everything is fine
09 events: Disease detectives, Road scholar, wright stuff, pentathalon, and robo-cross.
It's all fun and games until someone gets their fingers stuck together with super glue, then it's just funny!

Re: Wright Stuff in Division B!!!
You shouldn't be using enough CA in Wright Stuff to worry about bonding your fingers together. Wright Stuff is one of those events where a little glue goes a long way. Too much glue adds a lot of weight, so you really only need a drop in most places.
Bridge is a different story. And yeah, my fingers are crusty with CA right now. As they have been and will be for another week and a half.

You can pick at it and it comes off pretty well. Or you just don't do anything and it eventually works it way off.bob3443 wrote:o wow that stinks... how do you guys get superglue off your fingers? i tried sanding it off once... it sort of worked
If your fingers are bonded together and you can't get them apart, put them in acetone (nail polish remover) and rub back and forth. But I don't recommend soaking your fingers in acetone to try and get the rest off, that probably isn't a good thing.

Re: Wright Stuff in Division B!!!
The feeling of CA on my fingers... I really miss that. They make a CA debonder that actually works (acetone does not really) and prevents you from loosing too much skin. I do not think it is particularly good for you however. CA should really only be used for repairs in WS. Unlike some of the other events there is no real reason you should be gluing your fingers in WS unless you are really careless.

I chew it off. uncure is the solution that removes it if your fingers are stuck together. sandpaper kinda works, i don't think it works that well.

I especially like the idea of building a practice motor stick with hooks. I think I will definitely do that. It is either that or risk losing a plane that they just spent 4+ hours building. My 6th graders this year are unusually more alert and up to the task than previous years but I just know that they will somehow have a few slip ups before we can start launching some meaningful flights. Better be safe than sorry, I think.jander14indoor wrote:[

Finally, like most things, practice makes perfect. Until perfection is reached, don't risk the plane, set up a practice motor stick. All it needs is a prop assembly and tail hook. Make it out of balsa to about the strength of the plane, maybe attach skeletal wings and tail so the students get used to being careful, but don't spend any time building them. Practice just winding and attaching the motors.
