Re: Scioly Assassination 89: The Promise of Dying
Good game, Z. I'm currently working on deciding my pick.
Care to explain the ID clues? I found and kind of deciphered a few, like the oily fish (I think) and that's what pointed me to you, as well as the syntax and the multiple accusations of one person in a row, but I would love to see what else I missed.
Also, as far as luck, I think I was much more lucky in Alpha's game, no. 87, in which I correctly BSed 4 or 5 protects in a row...

Re: Scioly Assassination 89: The Promise of Living
Great game z. It was fun to play and I think it was what we needed to help these games. Thanks for being a great sassy.
Congrats twototwenty.
Due to my lack of effort these past few games, I have decided to not be an officer this next game. Hopefully we can get someone who tries harder instead. I will still help when I can and watch the game. Hope its as good as this game.

Re: Scioly Assassination 89: The Promise of Dying
Some notes from this game:
The title was based off of Aaron Copland's "The Promise of Living" (A really, really, really, good song which you should go listen to now, I'll wait: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLVyRvp2Qbg)
Ok, now that you've watched that, you should also know that it was the title of my marching show last year. I've posted it around in places, so it was interesting to see if anyone paid attention (apparently no one did). That was a big identity clue.
The other big identity clue was my posting times. I've been going to work or school pretty much every day that I ran this game, especially school the last two. I thought someone would figure that out. I also didn't change my style of writing too much, and I included puns in a lot of the posts, especially a memorable one about a scarecrow. No one got that one?
Now about the kill clues. You should know something about the kill clues: They were all made up on the fly. Every single one. I didn't plan out any of them. Because of this, they weren't too watertight (as I found out). But hey, serendipitous protects are part of the game. I often added a little bit more to each clue than was necessary because they were too easy (in which case I added humor) or too hard (in which case I added hints).
And the colored, oily fish? Those were red herrings in every sense of the word.
Well, I hope you enjoyed the game, and I encourage the next assassinator to adopt a similar style as this one, specifically by using the original rules. They make the game a lot more open and free. Once you start getting too many rules, it gets too complicated, and people start arguing.
By the way, to future assassinators, I solved the problem that everyone was arguing about last game: Make simple clues. Really. Try it. I figured this out way back in my last game, whenever that was. It totally works.

Re: Scioly Assassination 89: The Promise of Dying
I had puzzled for quite a long time over the oily fish, but the truth of it, that it was just another way of saying red herring, hit me in the shower, and I did a little jump for joy and almost slipped and killed myself. Ironically, the oily fish turned out to point me to you anyway, as it turns out that salmon is a type of colored, oily fish, and also a primary food source of bald eagles, which was a weaker reason for my accusation.
Two questions: what was the part about the Mythbusters and the gif? Also, what is the explanation of the last clue?

Using an extreme amount of hindsight bias and thistwototwenty wrote: Also, what is the explanation of the last clue?
I found out that the conversion between USD and kroons is 2 dollars to 23 kroons. It's a stretch, and probably not what z intended, but mehtwototwenty wrote:The old Estonian currency kroon, which has the currency code EEK and was first put out of circulation with the Russian occupation of Estonia, which could easily be Estonia's most important war

The clue is explained this way: You got to Estonian currency, so the country in question was Estonia. Its most important war would be its war for independence, which ended on 2/2/20.
The Mythbusters and the gif were both humor. Laying out the clues with just the straightforward evidence would be too easy, so I added some humor that was expected to throw you off.

Nice job with this part of the game. xD. It made the game more exciting/appealing for people like me who are just reading it. :3Assassinator wrote: 6. The assassin will write entertaining and mildly gruesome accounts of his kills.
