Re: Rubber
Your getting 2000 winds into 2g of single looped 1/8 rubber? That sounds absolutely preposterous but who knows, maybe it's not a typo.
Definitely try lower pitched rotors. I have 1 inch vertical spacing - 1.625 inches is too much.

Re: Rubber
possibly preposterous. there is a small chance that it isn't 1/8th rubber. It was rubber we found in an unmarked box from wright stuff a few years back. I tried measuring it, and its close to 1/8th. But we got 130 winds on our 15:1 winder.

Re: Rubber
two THOUSAND thats inconcievable and only :20? I can't even comprehend what your heli must look like to handle that much stress especailly on such thick rubberlllazar wrote:Your getting 2000 winds into 2g of single looped 1/8 rubber? Re: Rubber
Okay, so i should conclude that i do not have 1/8th rubber then. Because i just counted and my winder is indeed 15:1 and i did wind it 130 times. my helicopter is only four grams, and didn't have too much trouble handling the rubber.

Re: Rubber
that must be something really minute, how are you lubricating it? that may have to do with itDanny Smith wrote:Okay, so i should conclude that i do not have 1/8th rubber then. Re: Rubber
yeah thats fairly standard. That and silicone grease AKA armor all.Danny Smith wrote:It's some random bottle of "sil-slik rubber lube"
well I have 0 clue how your getting 130 winds on a 1:15 winder. That rubber might be really stretched out so it doesnt hold much energy. Thats my guess. b/c to get that many winds theres not much elastisity and if your only getting 20 seconds theres almost no power. I wouldnt use that rubber...ever

Re: Rubber
that may be the case, each loop is able to stretch well over six feet.
Now i get to find, buy, get, and test new rubber in the next week before state.
thanks for the help. should i still persue 1/8th inch rubber do you think?

Re: Rubber
Definitely, it's thick enough that if provides enough torque to lift most copters, and it can take enough winds for duration. Go for it, and order it fast.
