Nerds inc launcher (common standard for most competitions) + external psi gauge (usually more accurate than ones directly attached to launcher)
Any specific external psi gauge you can recommend? Not a lot of specifications on the size of the piping/tubes for the nerds inc launcher.
I've heard that any psi gauge that's not a 1 dollar made in China one should work.

As for the specs of the piping, most bike pumps' tubing is standard so they all fit into the launcher.

I am really struggling with this event. I understand that draping the parachute on the top is the best method, but I am having a hard time doing it. First of all, I can't get the rocket to launch straight for my life. I tried adding weight to the bottom and putting the nose on as straight as possible, but it still manages to go crooked during the launch? Secondly, should I place the parachute on top of the backslider and have the ball hang off or place the ball in a tube an have the parachute lay on top?

I recommend having the ball hang off.
Adding weight to the bottom of the rocket actually makes the rocket fly less straight. Try adding weight to the top, or try the tube design, which I've found works extremely well.

By bottom I mean pressure vessel. Is that what you are referring or are you saying to add weight to the end of the tube?

Yes, adding weight anywhere below the center of pressure will cause the rocket to fly less straight.

Hello everyone,

I'm trying a tube design at the moment and i usually drape my parachute on the tube and the ping pong ball usually hangs to the side. Now the problem I'm facing is that my parachute "sticks" to the tube and doesn't fall off. So could someone suggest a way I can make my parachute come off of the tube?

Thx,

What parachute material are you using? The sticking may be a result of static electricity. Try discharging the parachute canopy by touching something metal to it before launching.

Or, try adding some sort of powdery substance such as cornstarch or baby powder.

Yea it's pretty good. Ofc, there's always room for improvement. You should be able to get to 25s or 30s as long as you keep experimenting. Once you get there, it's about playing with the details.
