It could be plausible I guess. They would have a combo of incredible blades and a powerful fan, I guess. Whatever it is, wow I'm glad I'm in Cal and not in NY. I don't want to compete against that. Great job!!!
Science Olympiad is a tribute to Murphey's Law. This has been proven experimentally.
And no, I'm not a guy...even though my sig says will robsinson. It's a reference to Lost in Space, an ancient sci fi TV show. And the robot is the character who always says the line.

They used some sort of flexible plastic sheets, about the weight of those plastic section dividers for binders. I have no idea how they bent them, but one of their parent coaches I think is a physicist of some sort and helped them figure out the optimal angles and stuff.

I say they used some sort of blow torch to melt them into shape.

we tried melting plastic and it literally just put a hole right through it. We could figure out a way to get just the right amount of heat to mold but not melt, so i think that is unlikely, though maybe we just did something wrong

We almost successfully melted it, but was too fragile and it broke. (but when tested it before it broke it was really good)

Oh, I'm sorry if it wasn't clear, I meant "I have no idea in what way they bent them." The plastic was flexible enough that it could be bent without any special measures like that.

Are you talking about a design that did well?
