Do all of the regions run the same exact tests? I know the State Directors write the same test for all of the regions in some of the events, but can someone say for sure if this is PA's policy in every event?

I know that the SW regional did not have the same tests. Not sure about others.

I feel like I'm going to end up putting our team in the same place we got at states last year, even though I think our team is a little better this year.

This is odd too. Assuming that all the regions (except SW) had the same tests, we would have come 3rd in SEPA with 114 points (assuming we won all tiebreakers, otherwise it'd be more like 118), and 1st in CPA with 71 points (assuming we won all tiebreakers, otherwise it'd be more like 74). I don't really know what to make of that when it comes to predictions...

PA started this thing last year in which they had the same test writer writing the regional and state tests. However, I'm not sure if they writing different tests for each region or keeping it the same. I asked people of different regions about the tests they got and they seemed to have the same tests that I took (except SW regs they were a little weird).

Supervisors should write a test that CAN be used for all regions. I’m not sure how a test wouldn’t be able to be used at a different region, but *shrug*. Anyway, this doesn’t mean a region HAS to use that specific test. Yes, it’s unfair if all the regions get a test that the state supervisor wrote and one region didn’t thus that region doesn’t know how the test is going to be written at states, but they don’t have to use the same test.

Yes, this is pretty much how I interpreted it. I assume one of a few scenarios would occur:

• The supervisor writes a different test of relatively equal difficulty, and likely similar structure, for all regions (IMO, the ideal option)
• The supervisor writes a test to be used for all regions (less ideal due to potential communication between teams of different regionals, unless teams are made to sign some sort of form saying they won't share information, which AFAIK is not the case. Could be an option if regionals were coordinated to all occur on the same day, but that sounds like a logistical nightmare.)
• The supervisor writes a base test that can be altered by the regional supervisor (an okay option but introduces more uncertainty into the quality of the tests, also less likely to be recommended by PASO)

I am not sure that supervisors are explicitly encouraged to write a different test of equal difficulty for all regions, but it is my hope that that's what the intent is. It's what I would do if I was a supervisor (i.e. if I had the means to go to the coaches clinic at the beginning of the year, which maybe someday! ).

Full rules are listed within each link, but I'll go over some important ones real quick.

• One entry per user; if you want to edit your entry, submit a second ranking and your first ranking will be discarded.
• Where entries include a team twice, the second listing of the team will be discarded and replaced by the highest consensus team not chosen by the user.
• Any entries that include a team thrice or more, or any entries that have enough egregious omissions to be considered troll entries, will be discarded. If you want to pick Harriton to get 5th place or something, go for it. If you leave off Harriton, Rustin, and Lower Merion completely, chances are you'll be deleted.
• Scoring is as follows: 5 for getting a team in its correct spot, 4 for being 1 place off, and so on down to 1 point for being 4 or more places off. Guesses that did not place in the top 10 will be worth 0 points.
• The overall winner will be the user who gets the most points combined in B and C. You have nothing to lose by entering both, even if you know nothing about the other division. Just guess, you may be surprised!
