MadCow2357 wrote: January 28th, 2020, 6:03 pm I was lucky enough to meet bernard at MIT and also have him as boomi event supervisor! Naturally, we had an interesting conversation:

Me: So how are the scores looking so far?

bernard: the max weight held was 0 kilograms and the lightest boomilever was 1 kg

Me, an intellectual: *doesn't realize it's a joke until 10 seconds later*
I want to meet bernard :( Bernard come to Indiana!
What in Indiana is there to see? :P

So I was looking over the MIT Sounds of Music aural exam, posted by mastersuperfan, and I discovered that I would have gotten 15/30 points on it, which would have been good enough for 3rd on that section. I would have gotten the final question ("the very last bass note in Passage #3") which mastersuperfan says no one got right. I also correctly inferred the rhythm transcription in Passage #3, which apparently only one team got right.

All this, and I don't even compete in Sounds of Music. (Of course, I would bomb the written exam, and would not want to build the instrument)

MIT has applications in September. I'm not as familiar with Solon but I assume they fill spots in the fall sometime.

I definitely feel you on this; I would love to be an event supervisor for an invite like MIT or Princeton but, like Name said, it seems you have to have a lot of nationals experience or event supervisor experience to have a good chance, which the former I sadly do not, although the latter I'm certainly getting more of thankfully. That being said, you don't have to supervise to get a good experience helping at a tournament. I've had a blast just being at events helping with as simple tasks as timing planes or rockets. I understand your feeling about this though.
